William Edward "Bill" Dahlquist of Balsam Lake Township passed away at the Golden Age Manor in Amery on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the age of 75 years 5 months and 19 days. Bill was born in Amery the only child of Edward and Helen Olson Dahlquist. He was baptized and confirmed at the Balsam Lutheran Church in rural Amery. Bill graduated from Unity High School with the class of 1960 before Unity had a campus.
After a short career as a factory worker, Bill worked as a truck driver over his entire life, first driving milk trucks as an owner operator and for others and then driving semi tanker trucks. His driving career ended with the loss of his legs to health complications in the early '90's. After retirement he drove for the Polk County Aging office delivering many people to and from medical appointments.
In March of 2012 Bill became a resident of the Golden Age Manor in Amery where he resided until his death. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and many Uncles and Aunts. He is survived by cousins, Diane Bragg, Gerald Holmbeck, Mary Lou Olson, Lee Olson and Les Olson, and many friends.
Memorial services for Bill Dahlquist will be held at the Balsam Lutheran Church in rural Amery on Friday, October 6th, 2017 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Internment of cremains will immediately follow in the Balsam Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
