William Paul "Mr. Bill" Hughes
Bill entered this world on November 14, 1962 in Barstow, California, to Vicki and Bill Hughes. He left us unexpectedly on March 13, 2026 at his home in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin. Missing him dearly are his mom and dad, younger sisters Teresa and Joy (Craig), daughters Jennipher and Kaytlynn, son Bob (September), his loving grandchildren Emalynn, Zoey, and Brooklyn, and many friends, cousins, and colleagues.
Bill was a Stillwater High School graduate of 1981 and a true gearhead with a very high cylinder index. He loved spending time in his shop working on classic cars when he wasn't at his Tri-Star Engine job. He was meticulous and very detail-oriented when it came to things with motors. He was an avid griller and will always be known for bringing enormous amounts of food to gatherings. He was a very private person and a loner to the outside, but he was fiercely loyal to his family. He would drive miles in the snow to shovel out a friend, drop whatever he was doing to pick up the phone when Dad called, and more than anything else he was so proud to be a grandpa. He moved from St. Paul to the beautiful countryside of Polk County in 2004, trading in the sounds of traffic for the tranquility of the wildlife he fed on his small acreage.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and his beloved cousin Dave who worked endless hours and weekends with him in his shop. A Celebration of Life will be announced for late spring or early summer.
