William C. "Bill" Nacey was born on October 21, 1925 in Wetonka, South Dakota the son of Edward and Minnie (Carlson ) Nacey. He was the fifth of six children. When he was a young boy they moved to Amery, Wisconsin and he remained there throughout his life. He attended Amery High School graduating with the class of 1944. He was an avid sports fan and in high school he was a boxer, played basketball and was a member of the 1943 undefeated football team. Following graduation he joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his naval service he worked for Pete Connors and at the Amery Equity Coop. On February 6, 1953 he was united in marriage to Norma Anderson of Turtle Lake and together they raised three children. He played town team baseball and in the fast pitch softball league. He was a loyal Packer and Badger fan and followed those teams closely. Until just recently he was a regular in the stands for Amery High School Football, Basketball and Wrestling. For over 20 years Bill was employed as a route salesman in northern Wisconsin for the Land O Lakes Company. He also spent time working for Apple River Valley Memorial Hospital in Amery, at Nor-Lake in Hudson and for many years as a bartender at Club 53 in Amery.
Bill was a member of First Lutheran Church in Amery, the Amery VFW Post 7929 and the Larsen-Torgersen American Legion Post. He is perhaps best known and will always be remembered for his lively wit and playful sense of humor. He loved getting together with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren. Bill enjoyed his garden and raspberry patch and the commanding view of his hometown from his home atop the hill on Arlington Drive for over 50 years.
Bill died at Amery Regional Medical Center on Saturday September 18, 2010 at the age of 84 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma in 1999, brothers: Edward and Elmer, sister Marie Waalen and special uncle Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" Nacey.
Left to celebrate his life and wit are his sons: Tom (Gail) of Superior, WI and Tim (Margie Fredd) of Poskin, WI; daughter Julie Selle (Scott Frost) of Amery; sisters: Luelle Roettger of Pierz, MN, Laurie Otis of Washburn, WI and special friend and dancing partner, Donnie Christensen of Amery. He also leaves six grandchildren: Scott, Megan, Jenny, Katie, Brian and Mandy; great grandson Tyler and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from First Lutheran Church in Amery with Pastor Tim Bjorge officiating. Visitation will be at the Williamson ~ White Funeral Home on Friday September 24, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m. as well as 1 hour prior to services at the church. Organist for the service will be Norm Osero. Interment will be at the Amery Cemetery.
